Wow Wow Wow!!!! such a powerful book! When I first started reading this, I seriously could not stand either one of these main characters. I even disliked the side characters in this book. That never happens to me. The hatred grew for these characters, but I literally could not put this book down! I knew there had to be something behind this book and I wanted to find out what it was.
Ryen and Misha have been penpals since 5th grade. They have written to each other numerous times (sometimes even 3 times a week!) throughout those 7 years. They became super close and started to rely on each other although they had never met. These two only lived 30 minutes from each other and chose to not meet so that they would not ruin the bond that they share.
I just felt bad for Ryen's character. She had been wanting to fit in ever since she was young and went about it the wrong way. She was mean and just a bully. There were times as I was reading this story and just flat out called her a b*tch. Like who does some of these things and who acts like this!?
Misha was on a mission. He wanted to find out more about his mom and to find a family hair loom. (I'm not spoiling any of this!)
The side characters in this story, OMG i could not stand them! Trey and Lyla, like how could you want to be friends with them!? I didn't get it! The only character I could stand was Ten.
Misha and Ryen meet in a weird way, they just happened to be at the same place, same time. Instantly Misha could not stand Ryen, yet he could not stay away from her. The push and pull between these two made me keep turning the pages, i could not get enough. The tension between them was insane. There was so much build up in this story i wanted to bust.
Meanwhile who is writing the graffiti on the walls at school?
This book, oh my gosh this book. It had me captivated from the beginning. It had me angry, sad (Manny Cortez! the poor kid), happy, it made me laugh, it made me cry. I feel like this is a book that will give me a book hangover.
